U Pull & Pay (a wholly-owned subsidiary of DJJ) has an exciting opportunity as a Safety Management Trainee.

A Safety Management Trainee will support all facets of the scrap processing business during a hands-on Trainee period.

The Trainee period does not have a specific time frame but generally takes 12-18 months to become familiar with the business in order to assume greater responsibility. During this period, the safety management trainee will work out of the corporate office while supporting multiple locations throughout the company. It is the goal of the Trainee program to develop individuals to assume safety management roles upon conclusion.

Position Overview
1. Auditing stores for safety compliance; following up to correct deficiencies
2. Working with plant core teams to investigate incidents and near misses
3. Preparing and presenting monthly/annual training, and other monthly safety meeting topics
4. Developing, revising, and implementing site-specific safety policies and safe work procedures
5. Evaluating operations for industrial hygiene issues and implementing necessary controls
6. Approving safety supplies and personal protective equipment for use
7. Enforcing safety rules and helping to develop good employee safety attitudes during facility visits
8. Ensuring all documentation and recordkeeping is properly filled out, including accident logs and investigation reports
9. Recommending company safety policy changes to corporate staff
10. Serving as first contact for OSHA or other safety regulators

1. Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety & Health or Industrial Hygiene.
2. Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to adapt to changing assignments.
3. Good verbal and written communication skills – ability to interface effectively with all levels of the organization
4. Willingness to relocate to any of the regional locations within the Company,
States are Fl, OH, IN, AZ, TX, PA, NM, CO.
5. Willingness to travel
6. Bi-Lingual preferred
